Information we collect

We collect information in three main ways.

Information you provide

• Account and profile details, such as your email address, name, username, biography, and profile image.
• Content you create or submit, including drafts, published guides, collections, comments, reports, source notes, and uploaded media.
• Messages and requests you send to support, moderation, or other service channels.
• Subscription and transaction details needed to confirm your plan and access. Payment-card details are collected by our payment provider rather than entered into CheatSheet.

Information created when you use CheatSheet

• Activity such as searches, saves, follows, downloads, content views, and interactions with curated shelves.
• Technical information such as browser and device type, approximate network information, request timestamps, and diagnostic logs.
• Cookies and similar browser storage used for sign-in, security, preferences such as theme, and essential service behavior.

Information from service providers

We may receive subscription status, payment confirmations, fraud signals, or account information from providers that help us operate CheatSheet.

How we use information

We use information to:

• provide accounts, search, saved libraries, publishing, moderation, downloads, and Premium access;
• process and reconcile subscriptions and respond to billing or support requests;
• protect accounts, investigate abuse, enforce our Terms, and keep an audit trail for sensitive actions;
• understand service performance and improve discovery, content quality, and product reliability; and
• meet legal obligations and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims when necessary.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, that basis may be performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, your consent, or compliance with law.

When we share information

We may share information in these limited circumstances:

• Public activity. Profile details, published content, creator attribution, comments, and other information you choose to make public can be seen by others.
• Service providers. Hosting, database, storage, email, analytics, payment, and support providers may process information for us under their own service terms and our instructions.
• Safety and legal requests. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect rights or safety, or investigate misuse.
• Business changes. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Your choices

• You can update available account and profile details in your settings.
• You can control saves, follows, and the content you submit through the relevant product features.
• You can sign out or use browser controls to clear cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or preference features from working.
• You may ask to access, correct, export, or delete personal information. The rights available to you depend on where you live, and some information may be retained where law or legitimate operational needs allow.

Retention and security

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain legitimate business and safety records, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Retention periods vary by the type of information and why it is held. Public content may remain visible until it is removed, unpublished, or the related account is closed.

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures intended to protect information. No online service can guarantee complete security, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.

Children’s privacy

CheatSheet is not designed for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product, providers, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised policy here with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law or when a change is material.
